Manmeet Kaur (Moderator)

Manmeet Kaur is the Founder and Executive Director of City Health Works. In launching City Health Works, Manmeet saw the potential for reverse innovation from lower cost community health systems across the world applied to the U.S. Since its founding in 2012, she has led its growth from a promising vision to a fast growing operation in Harlem that is becoming recognized as a leading model for bridging the gap between health and healthcare.

Manmeet blends her passion for creating local jobs while improving health for low-income communities. Over the past 10 years, she has worked in New York City to improve the working conditions of "unregulated" workers, in India to formalize employment of construction day laborers at LabourNet, and in South Africa to help HIV+ individuals build health food businesses with Mamelani Projects. Before launching City Health Works, Manmeet was an advisor to the Earth Institute's One Million Community Health Worker Campaign across Sub-Saharan Africa.

Manmeet incubated City Health Works while pursuing an MBA at Columbia. She holds a B.A. in History/Anthropology from Barnard College, where she was selected as a Third Millennium Human Rights Fellow. She has been recognized by the GLG Social Impact Fellowship and selected as the 2012 Alumni Social Innovator by the Social Enterprise Program at Columbia Business School. Manmeet was born and raised in New York and lives in Harlem with her husband and son.
